S character hybridization and bond strength

  1. I can't see why more (s) character hybridised orbitals possesses stronger bond. I just understand that more (s) character means hybridized orbitals to be smaller (because (s) orbital has a smaller average distance from nucleus) and to have a lower energy (because (s) orbital has lower energy) and to have a larger angle.
