We've all had the experience: prof gives a test above the class skill level and has to scale the marks up. This is even better when you did fine on the test, and end up with a mark in the high nineties. Well, thanks to my class, I broke my "highest mark I got on a midterm" record. I scored an 84 out of 100 (super fantastic to me), but the class average was so low the prof had to scale so it ended up being out of 75! I love my algorithms class. I really do. The prof has a wonderful marking scheme, where your final grade = max(final exam, normal marking scheme). So you can screw up in the class and prove your worth on the final.
