    "Scream" on sale!!

Yes, THE "Scream", by Edvard Munch is now to be auctioned at Sotheby's.
Munch made 3 (I believe) versions of this painting.

This picture has been in private ownership by the shipping family that supported Munch financially (the Olsen family).

Now, Petter Olsen has decided to sell the crown jewel in the family's art collection, expected to fetch approx. 80 million dollars, or something like that.

    Oh, man!!!

Edit: I'd love to own that, but I'd have to consign it to a museum for display. I couldn't imagine keeping that hanging on a wall where only a few people could see it.

I don't understand it enough to "get" it in an academic sense, but I know what I like. If it grabs you, get it.

The link says there are 4 versions. I'm surprised, therefore, a single one of them would be expected to bring so much at auction.

I don't think this is true. I'd say The Creation of Adam is #2, and Dali's The Persistence of Memory is probably #3. Next would be something by Escher. I'd actually put The Scream as far down as #20.

I'd listen to Zooby. Still, the funniest T-shirt I ever saw was a painting of a cow in "the scream" pose. Below it:

    Edvard Moonch.

I would't want a creepy picture like that on my walls.
    I'm more into daffodil fields.

While on assignment in Canada i stumbled across this in Montreal art museum.
Was really missing my daughters and it struck a chord.

You have kitsch art in your country, too, Jim??

Here's another one, the "Gypsy girl" motif adorning many a bachelor's apartments in the 60s and 70s (not mine, though).
