Scrounging for components

  1. Nov 27, 2011 #1
I'm looking for magnet wire, think this is just fine copper wire that is varnished, and some wire thats suitable for winding to make a antennae.

Would the wires inside a CAT5E cable do for the antennae and the wires from the windings in an electric drill do for the magnet wire?

    Thanks
    AL

Just go to electronics surplus store in your area. I just bought a small roll for $9.99 to wind some guitar pickup coil. Not the wires inside the CAT5 is not coated.

Wires in the drill is coated wires. You can use it for magnetic wires, but they are usually quite thick.
