In summary, the conversation is about finding a formula to determine the significant difference in cells/mL in a sample with a given range of data points. The speaker also mentions the need for at least 3 measurements at each data point and clarifies that the given range is for different concentrations.

can someone give me a fomula to determine the significant difference of the difference in cells/mL in the sample our graph shows 1.7×〖10〗^5 and 1.49×〖10〗^6 how do i find if these numbers are significantly different?
I know this is very broad and really doesn't give you much to work with but all i can give you is also the range of our answers and that is 1.7×〖10〗^5 is the lowest and 1.7×〖10〗^6 is the highest data point

thank you so much again

To determine significance you need to have at least 3 measurements at each datapoint. The range you give is for different datapoints (different concentrations), isn't it?

To determine the significant difference between 1.7x10^5 and 1.49x10^6, you can use a statistical test such as a t-test or ANOVA. These tests will take into account the range and sample size of your data to determine if there is a significant difference between the two values. Additionally, you can also calculate the confidence interval for each value and see if they overlap. If they do not overlap, then there is a significant difference between the two values. It is important to also consider the context of your experiment and the level of significance that you have set for your study. Consult with a statistician or use a statistical software to perform these tests and determine the significance of the difference in cells/mL in your sample.

What is the meaning of "significant difference" in this context?

"Significant difference" refers to a measurable difference between two values that is large enough to be statistically significant, meaning that the difference is unlikely to have occurred by chance.

What do the numbers 1.7x10^5 and 1.49x10^6 represent?

These numbers are written in scientific notation, where the first number (1.7 and 1.49) is multiplied by 10 to the power of the second number (5 and 6). This notation is used to represent very large or very small numbers in a more compact form.

How do you calculate the difference between these two values?

To calculate the difference between these two numbers, you subtract the smaller value from the larger value. In this case, the difference would be 1.49x10^6 - 1.7x10^5 = 1.32x10^6.

Is the difference between these two values considered significant?

Without knowing the context in which these values are being compared, it is impossible to determine if the difference is significant. A difference that may be considered significant in one field of study may not be significant in another. Additionally, statistical analysis would need to be performed to determine the significance of the difference.

How do you interpret a significant difference of 1.7x10^5 & 1.49x10^6?

Interpreting a significant difference of these two values would depend on the context and purpose of the comparison. Generally, a significant difference would suggest that there is a meaningful distinction between the two values and that the observed difference is not due to chance. Further analysis and interpretation would be needed to understand the implications of this significant difference.
