In summary, the three roommates share household supplies and split the costs, adding items to a ledger and reimbursing each other at the end of the month. Satan spent 36, Eve spent 9, and Adam spent 27, with each owing a total of 24 after dividing the costs equally. Satan must reimburse 12, Adam must reimburse 3, and Eve must reimburse both roommates for a total of 24.

Three roommates share household supplies and split the costs. Each buys items and adds the items to the ledger. At the end of the month they reimburse each other for expenses on the ledger.

Satan spent 36

Eve spent 9

Adam spent 27

Who owes who what?

Note: They share costs at a rate of about 30% or 1/3 (divide by 3)

That's quite a simple li'l problem; wonder why it was written up so confusingly!

36 + 9 + 27 = 72
72 / 3 = 24

Satan: 36 - 24 = 12 reimbursement
Adam: 27 - 24 = 3 reimbursement
Eve: 9 + 12 + 3 = 24 (she reimburses both guys!)

1. What is the best way to split costs among a group of people?

The best way to split costs among a group of people is to first determine the total cost of the shared expenses. Then, discuss with the group and come to an agreement on how the costs will be divided. This can be based on factors such as income, usage, or equal splitting. It is important to communicate clearly and openly with the group to avoid any misunderstandings or conflicts.

2. Should shared costs be split evenly or based on individual usage?

This depends on the situation and the group's agreement. If the shared costs are for something that everyone will use equally, then splitting the costs evenly may be the most fair option. However, if there are varying levels of usage, it may be more appropriate to split the costs based on individual usage. It is important to discuss and come to an agreement with the group to ensure fairness and avoid any disagreements.

3. How do you keep track of shared expenses and who owes who?

There are various methods for keeping track of shared expenses, such as using a shared spreadsheet or expense tracking app, or simply keeping receipts and calculating the totals manually. It is important to choose a method that works for everyone in the group and to keep track of expenses in a timely and organized manner to avoid confusion and disputes.

4. What should be done if someone in the group cannot afford their share of the costs?

If someone in the group is unable to afford their share of the costs, it is important to address the situation with empathy and understanding. The group can discuss options such as adjusting the cost split, finding ways to reduce expenses, or offering to cover the cost for the individual in need. It is important to communicate openly and come to a solution that works for everyone.

5. How can conflicts about shared expenses be resolved?

Conflicts about shared expenses can be resolved by calmly discussing the issue with the group and finding a compromise or solution that works for everyone. It may be helpful to have a designated group leader or mediator to help facilitate the discussion and come to a resolution. It is important to approach the situation with understanding and open communication to avoid further conflicts.
