Simulating a battery-PSCAD

  1. Jul 9, 2013 #1
Hi, I am working on distributed generation and i am using PSCAD. The problem I am facing is that PSCAD does not have a battery model. I am looking for a battery model which can be used for the inverters. (I am using the educational version which does not have a PV module).

The models available in literature involve the measurement of State of Charge. In such cases the accuracy of measurement of SOC is a factor. Kindly suggest options to simulate a battery.

Using the available DC source is not an option as it would behave as an infinite source and would not solve the purpose.

Hi, I have the same question and problem. I'm wondering now that i'm writing this, you have solved the problem. If yes, can you please let me know how you solved it?

    Thanks

    Welcome to the PF.

Can you maybe use a very large capacitor as the energy storage part of the "battery"? And you could make the source resistance depend on the "battery" voltage to model that characteristic of a discharging battery...
