Exploring the Boundless Expanse: Unraveling the Mysteries of Space

In summary, the conversation discusses the concept of space and whether it has a medium or not. It is clarified that the absence of a medium does not necessarily mean that space is infinitely small or large. The idea of a point of singularity or a medium at the end of infinite division is also discussed, with the conclusion that this is not the correct understanding of the term "medium" in this context.

Hello,
Quick question. If space doesn't have, or consist of, an medium (ether?) would that mean space is infinitely small and large?

One does not imply the other, no.

What do you mean by space being infinitely small and large?

By infinitely small, I meant, for example a cm^3 of space could be "cut" in half forever, without finding a medium or point of singularity. And the opposite: a cm^3 cube doubled forever without running out of space.

I was just wondering .. if you come to point where you can't divide space anymore, could that last point be considered a medium?

No, that's no what "medium" means here.

What do you call it?

1. What is the space medium or infinity?

The space medium or infinity refers to the vast expanse of the universe beyond our planet Earth. It includes all the matter, energy, and empty space that exist beyond our solar system.

2. How big is the space medium or infinity?

The exact size of the space medium or infinity is unknown and constantly expanding. It is estimated to be around 93 billion light-years in diameter, but this measurement is constantly changing and may be much larger.

3. Is there an end to the space medium or infinity?

There is no known end to the space medium or infinity. The expansion of the universe is ongoing and there may be regions that are still unexplored by humans.

4. Can humans travel to the space medium or infinity?

At this time, humans do not have the technology to travel to the space medium or infinity. The vast distances and harsh conditions make it impossible for our current technology to reach beyond our solar system.

5. Are there other forms of life in the space medium or infinity?

The existence of other forms of life in the space medium or infinity is unknown. Scientists continue to search for signs of life on other planets and in distant galaxies, but no concrete evidence has been found yet.
