Explaining the Speed of Light Coincidence in the Quran: A Scientific Perspective

In summary, the conversation discusses a challenge of explaining the speed of light and its supposed prediction in the Quran. A video is shared showing a verse being interpreted with mathematical equations, but it is deemed bogus. The conversation then shifts to discussing the calculation of "cos alpha" and "t" in the video, which is compared to the concept of the "bible code". The conversation concludes by stating that discussing crackpot claims is not permitted.

Alright guys here's the challenge. Take this seriously because I don't understand how he got the speed of light, so is someone capable of explaining this thing step by step?
My friend is a muslim, an excellent student and he claims that the speed of light is predicted in the Quran. Now he's shown me a video of a verse being interpreted with mathematical equations, but of course it's all bogus. Nevertheless, the equations show this creepy coincidence that doesn't make sense to me.

Now you go this video, and go to 3:00 mark.

Can you guys explain to me how he got the cos of a, and t in general. Many thanks.

This is exactly the same as 'bible code.' He got the 'cos alpha' and 't' and the entire calculation out of thin air. You can always find some number that when manipulated in x,y,z completely arbitrary ways you get another number---which you're looking for.

Sorry, but discussion of crackpot claims is not permitted here. Review our rules, which are linked at the top of every page, and especially the list of "Closed Topics".

1. What is the speed of light coincidence?

The speed of light coincidence refers to the fact that the speed of light in a vacuum is the same for all observers, regardless of their relative motion. This was first observed by physicist Albert Michelson in the late 19th century.

2. Why is the speed of light considered a constant?

The speed of light is considered a constant because it has been measured to be the same value (299,792,458 meters per second) by all observers, regardless of their motion or the direction they are measuring it from. This is a fundamental property of light and is a cornerstone of Einstein's theory of relativity.

3. How is the speed of light coincidence related to the theory of relativity?

The speed of light coincidence is a key principle of Einstein's theory of relativity. It states that the laws of physics are the same for all observers in uniform motion, and that the speed of light is the maximum speed at which energy, matter, or information can travel. This means that the speed of light is constant for all observers, regardless of their relative motion.

4. What evidence supports the speed of light coincidence?

There is a significant amount of evidence that supports the speed of light coincidence. One of the most famous experiments is the Michelson-Morley experiment, which showed that the speed of light was the same in all directions. Additionally, numerous other experiments and observations have confirmed the constancy of the speed of light in a vacuum.

5. Can the speed of light coincidence be broken?

Based on our current understanding of physics, the speed of light coincidence cannot be broken. The speed of light is considered a fundamental constant and is a key component of our understanding of the universe. While there have been theories and experiments attempting to challenge this principle, none have been successful so far.
