Spring Compression Question

  1. Feb 22, 2013 #1
    Folks,
I am looking to determine how far a compression spring will rebound or decompress as a function of total distance (past its original resting position). Specifically, I'd like to determine this distance under the following conditions:
    1) there is an object sitting on spring at rest.
    2) both will be subject to a 6g acceleration in .1 seconds.

I have all the variables for the spring, to include the constant, material thickness, no. of coils, etc.
