Homework Help: Spring constant calculation

    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

    as drawn on the picture. a spring with spring constant k is connected to a fixed wall at one end, and the other end is connecting a proof mass. on the other side of the proof mass, there is a same spring connecting together.

    what is the overall spring constant of the system. it is 2k, or 0.5k.

    Welcome to the PF. How is "spring constant" defined in terms of other quantities in problems like these? Can you use that definition to help you answer your question?
