B Spring Steel Metal Strip in Eyeglasses question

  1. Dec 7, 2017 #21
What. Can't anyone help compute the spring stresses to see if it's one half or more compared to the yielding stress (when it goes from elastic to plastic deformation)?

Anyway. The following are the pieces when I disassembled the temple.

In case the spring breaks in future. Does anyone where to find substitute spring that works like it. Perhaps I can cut one with the same size and use it as some sort of spring.. even if it's 1/3 the cycle.. it would still be good than not able to use the spectacles at all.
