Stern Gerlach experiment

  1. Dec 3, 2016 #1
Inside the apparatus used in a Stern Gerlach experiment a stream of atoms, each with mass 2•10^-22g, is shot with a velocity 0.6 km/s along the x-axis into a magnetic field which varies as 3.6 T per mm along z-axis. The magnetic moment of each atom is 1 Bohr magneton. If the magnetic field extends from x1=5cm to x2=7cm, find the separation of the two beams.
