Stress in a long wire...
When we talk about stress we say stress= F/A now this force is same throughout the long wire right? and is equal to the tension? or else the string breaks...Here we assume the string to be massless...
Now if the string has some mass...then isn't the stress different at different points...It decreses as you go down the string...isnt it?
