String Vibrations

  1. Nov 30, 2008 #1
    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
A standing wave is established in a 120-cm-long string fixed at both
ends. The string vibrates in four segments when driven at 120Hz.
    (a) Determine the wavelength
    (b) What is the fundamental frequency of the string?

    2. Relevant equations
    (a) Lambda = 2L/n

    3. The attempt at a solution
    (a) Lambda = 2(120cm) / 4 = 60cm

Is this right? doesn't seem to be
