I think it's a mistake to try and make something like this seem like a serious protest against anything. Naked bike riding is just silly. It would work, I think, if it were merely a pro-bicycle fest intended to raise awareness of this alternate means of transportation.

The article says more than 8000 people participated in 2013. All that suggests to me is that bicycling is a particularly attractive activity to exhibitionists. I really don't get an anti-oil dependency vibe from naked cycling.

It's crazy hot up here in Olympia too, spook. And no rain in the forecast, except for possible thundershowers on Sunday - not those splendid, long, drizzly days I love.

And just in time for July 4, oh boy :nb)!

    7,111 °F ?

    Sounds about right.

ps. And to all you folk from warmer climates, who think we're whining? Well, you can shut the hell up. You signed up for where you live. We did not. It is not supposed to be this hot here. My AC has been on PowerRanger setting for 4 days now, 24/7.

No need for the stove-top, a little non-stick spray on the hood of the car works great. The heat is great, I've got a co-worker who's training for a 100 mile run in Utah and I'm in training for a week in Reno/Vegas. I might actually be able to walk outside the Casino during the day for 5 minutes.

Our Unipiper joked the other day, that he can now admit that he's been high for some time.

Um.... I've been hanging around stoners my whole life. I'm pretty sure, they would fall down, just thinking about a uni-cycle.

    Drugs are bad, mmm.kay........

I wonder if he can perform his act with the current burn ban? Is he a legal firework?

Last year I shopped at the stands near Rochester WA on Indian land. Plenty of good stuff there.

My friend had one of "those" show up in her front yard, about 25 years ago, on the end of a stick, "growing" out her garden.
We are all still laughing about it. :)

    Friend; "Did you do that!?"
Om; "No. But that's pretty funny."
Friend; "I don't think so. Do you want it?"
Om; "Um..... Sure! We can throw it at eat other, at OCF!"

No better place to be when it's so hot out.

Coincidentally, the mayor of the city, was meeting with the pope last week, regarding, climate change?

I seem to recall that the mayor agreed with the protesters, hence, the lack of their demise.

Portland has had some pretty cool mayors over the decades.

I live in the Tacoma, Wa area, and we still haven't had any rain since Lisab's post, save one drizzle about 4 days ago. The projection is 90+ again through the weekend. Thankfully, I broke down this year and bought 2 Fridgitaire room air conditioners this summer. Now I don't give a rip how hot it gets.:-p

You, can go, to H, E, double toothpicks............

I have failed, in my attempt, to join the PF AC repair club for men......... :oldgrumpy:

    pf.2015.08.01.failed.AC.repair.attempt.jpg

The compressor still works, but the combo hot/cold fan motor is, um, [trying not to use curse words.....] not functioning......
It's too hot to think, so anyone in a cooler climate that wants to make a guess as to why it isn't working, is welcome.

    pf.2015.08.01.ac.circuit.diagram.jpg

    I'm going to the store.

    I feel your pain.
The dual RUN capacitor might be bad on the fan side.
I'm running the workshop AC from the backyard solar, more sun means more juice for the cooling.

The battery bank is picking up the slack and the power cube display is RED for total system draw.

With solar you can be cool and GREEN.

hmmmm.... I cooked a hamburger with the sun yesterday.
The hood of my car was not getting hot enough, so I got out about 30 AOL disks and laid them out in my driveway.
The stand was an inverted tomato cage, held down with two patio paver bricks.

    Final hamburger temperature was 147°F.
    It took about two hours.
