Sun and .doc

  1. Aug 14, 2005 #1
Is it possible to open .doc files preserving the format on Solaris? ...besides saving it as .txt, 'coz that does not preserve formatting and special characters. I know on Linux there's star office, but is there anything available for Unix?
    Thanks in advance.

Both Staroffice and Openoffice work on Freebsd and Solaris
