Is it possible to pulse Alcubiere drive once to catch up a gravitational wave to surf it, then pulse again to stop?
Thank You for the reply Nugatory. I was guessing that would be the answer, although i was always thinking about orbital mechanics as "surfing the gravity". Its still a good idea about concept art or something :) Anyway i started watching lectures by Kip Thorne about the gravitational waves and got his book (for some reason i have deep interest in that matter although I am not physicist and i can't do the maths myself).Nugatory said:Not according to our current understanding of the physics involved.
Yes, it is theoretically possible to surf a gravitational wave. However, it would require advanced technology and knowledge of how to control and manipulate gravitational waves.
A gravitational wave is a ripple in the fabric of spacetime, caused by the acceleration of massive objects. It was predicted by Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.
Gravitational waves travel at the speed of light, which is approximately 299,792,458 meters per second. This is the fastest speed possible in the universe.
Yes, scientists have successfully detected gravitational waves using advanced equipment such as the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO). These waves can provide valuable information about the universe and its origins.
No, gravitational waves are not dangerous to humans. They are incredibly weak and can only be detected by sensitive instruments. The amount of energy carried by a gravitational wave decreases as it travels through space, making it harmless by the time it reaches Earth.
