Is There a Way to View the Night Sky Without Leaving Your Computer?

In summary, there are several websites that allow you to view the night sky without going outside, such as astrwww.astr.cwru.edu/interface.html and www.telescope.org. However, if you prefer a planetarium type viewer where you can choose what you wish to view, the Stellarium download from http://freeware.intrastar.net/planetarium.htm is a great resource.

Aware of any web sites that allow you to view the night sky without going outside right on the web such as just point and clicking. I am not talking about SLOOH that apparently after reading briefly allows you to watch for 15 minutes at objects you have no choice in watching. If anyone has any information concerning this I for one would certainly appreciate it..thanks

Here are a couple more you can try:

http://astrwww.astr.cwru.edu/interface.html [Broken]
http://www.telescope.org/

It sounds, however, like you might be more interested in a planetarium type viewer where you have some say over what you wish to view. In that case, here is a very nice resource:

The Stellarium download is especially nice.
