What is the solution to the double-slit experiment?

Sorry about making such a bold statement right at the start but the field of quantum physics has been stuck for far too many years on aspects of this problem. It has taken me most of my life to get to the point where I understand the double-slit experiment without uncertainty. I see even Stepen Hawking is asking for a better solution in his book "The Grand Design".
