I can imagine that anyone who reads this likes to indulge in a bit of twerking now and again. But is it true that if you do it too vigorously your bum drops off?

No, but you can set it on fire.

Not if you do it in the morning just after you had your coffee.

If you hit the resonant frequency of your pelvis then a standing wave self-reinforces and can cause structural damage. This frequency is roughly 1.21 gigatwerkz.

I had never even seen or heard the word "twerk" until Miley Cyrus released her infamous video a few weeks ago. Does this mean I'm totally out of touch with popular culture now?

According to the Oxford Dictionary Online, to twerk is "to dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance"
Twerk=twist+jerk

It's been around for a while. I recall seeing my friends post fb statuses about it many months ago. It just blew up now because of Miley Cyrus completely losing her mind.

Hardly. She knows what she's doing. Her just released title song, "Wrecking Ball", has over 158,000,000 hits on YouTube. Don't watch it. It's bad for you.

Yes, and I'm proud of it.

Not fun though is being an adult and having to define it for your parents...

In all fairness he has got some pretty strong pelvic / hip muscles lol.

Twerkingout seems to be the new trend to keep fit.

I've seen it. She's only getting bad publicity.

I had never heard of the word "twerk" until this thread. Does this mean I win the "completely out of touch with popular culture" award?

Bruce Springsteen released an album last year with the title song "Wrecking Ball"!

Not only is Ms. Cyrus an infamous twerker, but a plagiarist as well! I think WBN is referring to the fact that Cyrus got 601,158 don't likes vs 1,088,369 likes for her song, a very high ratio of negatives for a YT video. BTW, the Cyrus video is now over 160 million hits.

I'm still having trouble getting by an assertion made in the OP:

How does high record sales = good publicity necessarily? I hope you know that many artists have sold a multitude of records due to exactly the opposite.

Wait, that's basically the definition. Good publicity is publicity that increases sales/money.

True that. And it's been done for...well probably forever. Succès de scandale!

The assertion was the frivolous bit. Or would it be better to call it the cheeky bit? The serious bit was asking whether the bum could fall off. :bugeye:

Do we ban Greg for posting this video?

Perhaps he didn't have the audio on when he watched it.

Should I push the "report" button, or repost the video on his wife's Facebook page?

Latter-day,
pancake batter day.
