The sprouting of the dead

    Listening to Joseph Campbell, I recognized that two moments in human pre-history may coincide temporally: the resurrection of crops planted by man in the ground and the desire for such "immortality" of their loved ones by burial. Inclusion of agricultural tools and plant material in the earliest burials would corroborate such belief. When would such an event have first occurred?
