In summary, a conversation about the "world's ugliest dog" took place, with various people sharing their thoughts and opinions on the dog's appearance and potential mistreatment. Some found the dog cute, while others found it disturbing and a result of inbreeding or abuse. There were also mentions of magnets and t-shirts being sold featuring the dog, and comparisons to other "ugly" animals. The overall consensus was that the dog was not appealing to most people and would require a special owner to care for it.

Oohhh man. That thing looks like it died twice and was resurrected. My family and I had a good laugh about it.

You can also buy magnets and T-shirts!

Would you believe I found an uglier dog?

Argh! Too...Hideous! It burns my eyes!

Look thee not upon the Satanic image of this foul beast, for thine eyes shall surely be burnt from thy skull.

I do not find this thread funny at all.
That dog has been exposed to malnutrition, beatings and God knows what else.
It is thoroughly disgusting and perverse that humans torture an animal like that only in order to win a "prize".

Are you sure? Maybe it's just what that breed looks like?

What the hell is up with the three dew-claws on the front leg? That is just freaky.

It 'may' have been abused which would explain why it was a rescue but more importantly it appears to suffer congenital defects. Look at the teeth and jaw. Look at the extra dew claws. Ahhh nothing like inbreeding to really screw up the gene pool.

No, I'm not sure.
However:
Either, there has been systematic inbreeding going on to create this creature, or the creature has been abused.

Neither of which options I regard as more defensible than the other.

I've searched in vain for the old thread here, but does this remind anyone of the dead 'la chupacabra' that was allegedly found a while ago?

The Chinese Crested is a AKC dog, and the the one in the photo was a rescued animal, and it is older. The claws are horrid, and really need some work, but because they have grown so long the flesh under them has also grown makeing triming very bloody and painful. But it still should be done.

Yea, I don't see myself cuddling up to that dog. Someone with a dedicated heart to ugly dogs will have to take that task on.

1. What makes a dog "ugly"?

The term "ugly" is subjective and can vary from person to person. In the case of "The world's ugliest dog" competition, it is based on unique features such as unusual fur patterns, odd body proportions, and other physical traits that make the dog stand out.

2. Is the competition harmful to the dogs?

No, the competition is not harmful to the dogs. The dogs are well-cared for and are thoroughly checked by a veterinarian before participating. The competition is also a celebration of these unique dogs and raises awareness for adoption and responsible pet ownership.

3. How are the winners chosen?

The winners are chosen by a panel of judges who evaluate the dogs based on their appearance, personality, and overall impression. The decision is subjective and not based on any strict criteria.

4. Are these dogs all purebreds?

No, these dogs do not have to be purebreds to enter the competition. The competition is open to all dogs regardless of their breed or lineage.

5. Is there any controversy surrounding the competition?

There is some controversy surrounding the competition as some people argue that it promotes the idea of judging animals based on their appearance. However, the competition also brings attention to the importance of accepting and loving all animals, regardless of their physical appearance.
