A gas, with mass of 2.3 kg, undergoes a thermodynamic cycle which consists of the following processes,

1→2 Isobaric expansion, =2.3 bar , 1=4.1 m3 and 2=7.9 m3

2→3 Isothermal compression (=constant) where 3=2

3→1 Isometric process where 3−1=20.5 kJkg⁄

First sketch the process and then neglecting ΔK.E. and ΔP.E., determine

a) The work done when the gas undergoes the isobaric expansion, from state 1 to 2: 1→2 .

b) The work done when the gas undergoes the isothermal compression, from state 2 to 3: 2→3 .

c) The heat transfer when the gas undergoes the isobaric expansion, from state 1 to 2: 1→2 .

d) The heat transfer when the gas undergoes the isothermal compression, from state 2 to 3: 2→3.

e) The heat transfer when the gas undergoes the isometric process, from state 3 to 1: 3→1 .
