In summary, the conversation discusses the topic of haunted hotels, specifically the Queen Mary and the Hotel del Coronado. The speaker shares a personal experience at the Queen Mary where they explored restricted areas and saw a human corpse, and another person asks why the Hotel del Coronado is not included in the list. Just for fun and FYI. No ghosts arguments please.

I've been to two of these hotels. Once I went to a banquet at the Queen Mary and proceeded to get really drunk with a bunch of engineers. Late that evening we ditched the party and explored the "no-access" areas deep in the bowels of the ship. We walked around for hours before we got caught. We saw areas that appeared to be relatively untouched since the ship was decommissioned. We also stumbled into a section of the ship used only for Holloween tours. The first indication of this appeared to be a human corpse sitting in a chair; which did give us quite a start for a moment.

I wondered about this also. I guess even the afterlife is competitive.

1. What makes a hotel considered "haunted"?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as the definition of a "haunted" hotel can vary. However, some common factors that contribute to a hotel being considered haunted include reports of paranormal activity, a history of tragic events or deaths on the property, and a general feeling of unease or fear among guests and staff.

2. Are there any scientific explanations for reported paranormal activity in haunted hotels?

While there is no concrete scientific evidence for paranormal activity, some speculate that certain environmental factors such as electromagnetic fields, infrasound, and even psychological suggestibility may play a role in creating a perceived haunting. However, more research is needed in this area.

3. How do hotels capitalize on their reputation as being haunted?

Hotels that are believed to be haunted may offer ghost tours, special packages for ghost hunters, or themed events and experiences. Some hotels may also play up their haunted reputation in their marketing and branding to attract tourists and curious guests.

4. Is there a way to prove if a hotel is truly haunted?

There is currently no scientific method to prove the existence of ghosts or paranormal activity. However, some hotels may have documented reports and accounts from guests and staff that could lend credibility to their reputation as being haunted.

5. How do hotels handle guest concerns about potential paranormal activity?

Hotels that are believed to be haunted may have protocols in place for addressing guest concerns about paranormal activity. This could include offering alternative rooms, providing information on the hotel's history and any reported hauntings, and emphasizing safety measures to ease guests' fears. Some hotels may also have staff trained to handle paranormal situations and provide resources for guests seeking more information or assistance.
