Homework Help: Two Pulses Question

  1. Jan 17, 2008 #1
    [SOLVED] Two Pulses Question

    A wire 13.0 m long and having a mass of 60 g is stretched under a tension of 285 N. If two pulses, separated in time by 30.0 ms, are generated, one at each end of the wire, where will the pulses first meet?

    Here's what I've done:

    vwave=sqrt(285N/(.06kg/13m))=248.495 m/s

    wrote two equations and substituted to solve for x:

    I found x to be 2.77 m but this is incorrect. Could someone point me in the right direction?

    Hah nevermind I figured it out! 13m - 2.77m = 10.23m (distance from the left end of the wire)
