Vacuum cleaner - blower for object pickup

  1. Apr 3, 2012 #1
    Hi all,

I am currently using a blower to generate partial vacuum for object pickup. I am using it without suction cup at the suction tip, hence when the object is being picked up, it will not be a perfect sealed contact between object and tip. I thought this is similar to using a vacuum cleaner to suck a big object (without suction cup here).

However, when sourcing for the blower, there are two different properties involved: pressure (sealed) and flow rate. How do these two properties affect the suction force at the tip?
Also, any idea about the air flow at the suction tip of vacuum cleaner?

I am interested to determine the amount of pressure and flow rate needed to pick up my object. Any reference suggested is much appreaciated.
