Hello all,(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

I looking for a good reference book where I can find detailed procedure on how using the variational principle, via the calculation of the variation of different actions, one can find the dynamics equations of the fields. E.g. deriving covariant Mawell equations from the lagrangian densit of the EM field.

I'm not so much interested in the theory itself but more on the calculation details, involving calculation of variation of functions, tensor densities...

Thanks in advance,

Miguel
