    how to turn a 'longitudinal wave ' displacement-time graph into a displacement-distance graph

    The solution for a travelling wave is:

    [tex]y(x,t) = Asin(\frac{2\pi}{\lambda}x - \omega t)[/tex]

    To turn it into a displacement distance graph, just plot y as a function of x, keeping t constant.
