    1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

    It is possible for radio waves to be transmitted over long distances even though the curve of the earth blocks a direct path for the radio waves to travel (e.g. in Scotland it is possible to pick up broadcast from many distant foreign countries.)




    The attempt at a solution

    In class we have only studied DIFFRACTION.
    bending of waves round short corners; long waves diffract more than short waves.


    I was just wandering if that was the right answer?
