Okay, yes, if I move an object (A) away from a massive object (B), I give the object (A) the potential energy needed to be pulled back down -- I fight against the force of gravity. But what gives gravity the ability to fight against me for what seems like "free"? For me, I was able to move that object away using my hands because of the food I had eaten which gave me the energy to move my arms, grab the object, and move it (Yes, I realize it goes a lot deeper than that, but lets just leave it there for the sake of argument and not getting out of control.) What is giving gravity whateveritneeds to have an effect on the mass that I am moving? How could it possible be affecting the object for free?
