What happened to good, clean COMEDY, like the old days

In summary, there is a lack of good family comedy in today's entertainment industry. The comedians of the past, such as The Three Stooges, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, and Red Skelton, were masters of their craft. However, today's comedians often resort to using profanity and sexual content in their acts, instead of learning from the comedic legends before them. While originality is important, there is a lot of crude and vulgar material in modern comedy.

Good Family Comedy is a Rarety today. I miss Comedians like The three Stooges, Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Red Skelton and many others. They were absolute Masters of Comedy. Todays' Comedians just don't get it. They fill their Acts with profanity, Sex, etc. Too bad they didn't learn anything from the Masters.

They did, and they don't want to be 'copycats' so, originality helps...but I would agree that there is lots of rather nasty stuff out there, crude, rude, and vulgar...

I completely agree that good, clean comedy seems to be a rarity in today's entertainment industry. It's a shame that many comedians feel the need to rely on shock value and explicit content to get a laugh. The comedians you mentioned, like The Three Stooges, Jack Benny, and Bob Hope, were true masters of their craft and were able to make audiences laugh without resorting to crude humor. They understood the importance of appealing to all ages and keeping their comedy clean and relatable. It's a shame that modern comedians don't seem to have the same level of skill and understanding of what truly makes for great comedy. I too miss the days of wholesome family comedy and hope that we will see a return to it in the future.

What is considered "good, clean" comedy in the old days?

"Good, clean" comedy in the old days typically referred to comedy that was family-friendly, free of profanity or explicit content, and focused on universal themes that could appeal to a wide audience.

Why do some people believe that good, clean comedy is no longer as prevalent as it used to be?

Some people believe that the rise of edgier and more provocative forms of comedy, such as dark humor and shock comedy, have overshadowed the more traditional and wholesome style of comedy. Additionally, with the rise of streaming platforms and online content, there is a greater demand for edgier and more boundary-pushing comedy.

What are the potential benefits of having more good, clean comedy in entertainment?

Having more good, clean comedy in entertainment can provide a sense of nostalgia and comfort for those who long for the simpler times of the past. It can also serve as a way to bring families and people of different ages together, as it is more inclusive and relatable for all audiences.

What are some possible reasons for the decline of good, clean comedy?

One possible reason for the decline of good, clean comedy is the changing cultural norms and values. What was considered acceptable and funny in the past may no longer be seen as such in today's society. Additionally, comedians may feel pressure to be more edgy and controversial in order to stand out and gain attention in a saturated entertainment market.

Can good, clean comedy still be successful in today's entertainment industry?

Yes, good, clean comedy can still be successful in today's entertainment industry. While it may not be as prevalent as it used to be, there are still comedians and shows that cater to this style of comedy and have a dedicated audience. Additionally, with the rise of family-friendly content and streaming platforms, there is still a demand for wholesome and feel-good comedy.
