What if Me = Mp?

  1. Dec 10, 2008 #1
Studying for a Modern Physics final and a discussion question from an old test is bugging me. How would the universe be different if the mass of the electron was the same as the mass of the proton? First thing that comes to my mind is density of materials and electronics, but I don't think I have a good grasp on the consequences of this hypothetical. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

One thing that pops into my mind is the structure of the Hydrogen atom. How would the orbit of the electron (or electron cloud) be affected? Would there be any affect on the size of the Hydrogen atom?

Try to use as many of the concepts that you have covered in that course as possible.
