    It is a plot of the fresnel integrals,
    [tex]x=\int_0^t\cos\left(\frac{\pi}{2}v^2\right)dv, \ \ y=\int_0^t\sin\left(\frac{\pi}{2}v^2\right)dv[/tex]
    ( x vs. y, with t implicit) It is used in a graphical technique of calculating fresnel diffraction.

    "cornu"= "horn". A cornu spiral is so called because it resembles a ram's horn.
