What is Major GPA?

  1. Dec 11, 2015 #1
I was a physics major. So when the graduate schools asked for my Major GPA I averaged up the GPA for all of my physics classes, but only my physics classes. Is this acceptable?

Yes, it is. Many schools will list your "major GPA" separate from you overall GPA.

You should include all courses that count towards your major. For a physics major this probably includes a bunch of math courses, at least.

At the college where I work, one of the requirements for graduation is a 2.0 major GPA, so the college calculates it for you.
