What is the average digestive period?

  1. Mar 24, 2003 #1
How long (on average) does it take a human to digest food? How long does it take for liquids?

    Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know about fluids(i'm guessing a relatively shorter time than solids), but I do know that it takes up to 14-18 hours to digest food. I took a pre-med class a while ago, in 5th grade, so my memory maybe a bit rusty. But I am 100% sure it takes at least 14 hours. I just don't know about the 18 part, it could very well be 17....
