Sail makers may use similar CNC routers to cut out fabric templates, but there is no specific machine designed for this purpose. There are also floor-mounted CNC routers and lasers available, such as the Haas GR-510, which has a work envelope of 121" x 61" x 11". These machines operate similarly to a gantry system, with the router or laser moving along the x and y axes. So, while there may not be a specific machine that meets your exact criteria, there are options available for large CNC routers and lasers.

What is the largerst CNC router...

I know that this has to exist... a router that is say 40' x 100' or so... Something that you could bring a sheet of fabric in, pull a vacuum under it and go along and cut out a template that was drawn in a CAD CAM program... I wonder if sail makers have these types of things. Regardless I am sure that it exists, but haven't found anything.

Does anyone know of any sort of CNC floor mounted routers or lasers?

By floor mounted, I don't mean conventional routers that exists in big metal fabrication shops, rather something that almost does the cutting directly on the floor. The router or laser slides (x and y) control would be similar to a gantry system...

At this time, the largest CNC router available is the Haas VF-10000, at a work envelope of 160" x 100" x 40". It is the largest CNC router in the Haas lineup and is capable of high-speed machining with precision accuracy.

1. What is the largest CNC router?

The largest CNC router is the Thermwood Model 90, which measures 10 feet by 52 feet and is capable of cutting up to 10 feet by 20 feet of material.

2. What materials can be cut with the largest CNC router?

The largest CNC router can cut a wide range of materials, including wood, plastics, composites, foam, and non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and brass.

3. How accurate is the largest CNC router?

The accuracy of the largest CNC router depends on various factors, such as the quality of the machine and the skill of the operator. However, the Thermwood Model 90 boasts an accuracy of ±0.002 inches, making it one of the most precise CNC routers in the market.

4. What is the maximum thickness of material that can be cut with the largest CNC router?

The maximum thickness of material that can be cut with the largest CNC router varies depending on the type of material. For example, the Thermwood Model 90 can cut up to 4 inches of wood and up to 3 inches of aluminum.

5. How long does it take to complete a project with the largest CNC router?

The time it takes to complete a project with the largest CNC router depends on the complexity and size of the design, as well as the speed of the machine. However, the Thermwood Model 90 has a high-speed mode that can significantly reduce cutting time.
