hi everyone,

I'll be finishing school by the end of February and will be enrolled into university to study physics at the start of october.

Any constructive ideas as to what to do before I enrol?

(I've thought about studying in advance, but not sure if that would do much help)

Appreciate any help!

Make some money?

Or you could volunteer in physics related activities (tutoring etc).

as my university would be self-funded (paying the international fees!), I've thought of trying to make money by giving tuition, but the idea of it doesn't sound really exciting.

Are there any paid internships out there related to physics that maybe i could participate?

No. At your skill level, no business would pay you to do physics-related stuff for them.

I understand the importance of preparation and setting yourself up for success in your academic pursuits. Before enrolling in university, there are a few things you could do to prepare yourself for the challenges ahead.

Firstly, I would recommend taking some time to research the university you will be attending and familiarize yourself with their curriculum and requirements for the physics program. This will give you a better understanding of what to expect and allow you to plan your studies accordingly.

Additionally, you could consider reaching out to current students or professors in the physics department to gain insights and advice on what to expect and how to best prepare for the program. This could also help you build connections and potentially find a mentor who can guide you through your academic journey.

In terms of studying in advance, while it may not be necessary, it can certainly be helpful in getting a head start on the material and easing the transition into university-level studies. You could also use this time to brush up on any areas of physics that you may feel less confident in.

Lastly, I would encourage you to take some time for yourself and enjoy your last few months before university. This could mean pursuing a hobby or passion, traveling, or simply taking a break to recharge. University can be demanding, so it's important to start off on the right foot by taking care of your mental and physical well-being.

I wish you the best of luck in your academic journey and I am confident that with proper preparation and a positive mindset, you will excel in your studies.

One way to start building a network before entering university is to attend events or conferences related to your desired field of study. You can also connect with alumni or current students from your prospective university through social media or networking events. Additionally, joining clubs or organizations related to your interests can also help you expand your network.

4. Should I start thinking about my career goals before entering university?

It is never too early to start thinking about your career goals. Before entering university, take some time to research different career paths and consider what interests you. This can help you choose a major or minor that aligns with your career goals and give you a head start in planning for internships and job opportunities.

5. What can I do to prepare for the transition to university life?

Preparing for the transition to university life can involve a variety of things. You can research the campus and surrounding area, connect with current students or alumni, and attend orientation or campus events.
