In summary, research experience is highly valued by top schools, especially in fields such as science, engineering, and medicine. While industry experience may be valuable, it is generally not considered equivalent to research experience. However, a combination of both can be beneficial, but highlighting the research experience is important. It is better to have a shorter period of research experience with more impactful research, but a longer period can also be beneficial. Quality and impact of research are given more weight in top school admissions.

What will be better among these two if i want to join the "top schools" after undergraduation?- First college will provide me research opportunities at undergrad level and the second college will have one semester in industry but does not provide research opportunity at undergrad level.

So what will be more impressive - research experience or industry experience if iwant to do MS from one of the top schools?
