In summary, the year starts getting shorter again after the summer solstice, which falls around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. This is due to the Earth's axial tilt, which causes changes in seasons and the length of daylight hours. The amount of daylight lost after the summer solstice varies depending on the latitude. The timing of when the year starts getting shorter again can vary, but typically falls between June 20th and June 22nd. The Southern Hemisphere experiences longer days and shorter nights after the summer solstice, as they are tilted towards the sun.

Hey there

A little quick question for all you starcrazy people:
When exactly does the year start getting shorter again? Untill the 21st or 22nd of december the days get shorter and shorter, but at some time during those days it shifts, and the days begin to get longer... When does this shift occur this year? Exact time would be appreciated.

Best regards and a merry xmas to all

1. When does the year start getting shorter again?

The year starts getting shorter again after the summer solstice, which falls around June 21st in the Northern Hemisphere.

2. Why does the year start getting shorter again?

The Earth's axial tilt causes the change in seasons and the length of daylight hours. After the summer solstice, the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the sun, resulting in shorter days and longer nights.

3. How much does the year shorten by after the summer solstice?

The amount of daylight lost after the summer solstice varies depending on the latitude. In the Northern Hemisphere, the amount of daylight lost can range from a few minutes to several hours.

4. Does the year start getting shorter again at the same time every year?

No, the timing of when the year starts getting shorter again can vary slightly each year due to the Earth's orbit and axial tilt. However, it typically falls around the same time, between June 20th and June 22nd.

5. Does the entire world experience shorter days after the summer solstice?

No, the Southern Hemisphere experiences longer days and shorter nights after the summer solstice, as they are tilted towards the sun during this time. The length of the year is the same for both hemispheres, but the change in daylight hours is opposite.
