Where's tribdog - I'm in a really bad mood

In summary: Anyway, my shower is now leaking, and I'm in a REALLY BAD mood because of it.In summary, the person's day started out with having to eat breakfast at a casino with their co-workers and then the cashier tells them there is a gratuity of 10% added to parties of 8 or more. Then, after breakfast, the person's day went downhill when their webcam wasn't working and their shower was leaking. The person ends their day by spitting out 2000 lines of code that they worked on all day and is in a REALLY BAD mood.

I'm in a REALLY BAD mood tonight. :grumpy:

My day started out having to eat breakfast at a local gambling casino with my co-workers. Do you know what kind of people eat breakfast at a casino at 8am? Ok, you don't want to know. Then the cashier tells us there is a 10% gratuity added to parties of 8 or more (there were 8 of us), she tells us that will be 80 cents each.  (yes we left the poor waitress an additional tip)

And this darn webcam isn't working right. Look at this, I just took it. And if I put a klieg light on so the picture isn't as grainy, I look like the Bride of Frankenstein.

Someone say something and make me feel better!

Hmm.. I would have expected casino food to cost more. I am not exactly of age to enter casinos, but given the tip and gratutity she requested, it seemed like a decent sized meal, but then again, this was breakfast you are talking about. Maybe I am just confusing myself.

I shall proceed to answer your question to cater to different personalities . Enjoy the fairly stupid, hastily-written generalizations hehe.

1. (the optimist) Cheer up, your day will get better!
2. (the pessimist) Be lucky it isn't worse. At least you didn't die.
3. (the alcoholic) Nothing that some booze won't fix.
4. (the yoda-way) Look at your day; improve it you must.
5. (some random alien) Hrjoof? Sin'yt so irhigt iuh yoopa kawa-siht pahrka!

Hmm... how random. Perhaps I should getback to studying, after all I have a test tomorrow.

I'm not sure what kind of compliments would be appropriate for someone my age to give you, but while the quality of the picture is grainy, you definitely don't look anywhere near the bride of Frankenstein.

Thanks motai! Well, I've got the booze and extra chunky peanut butter, but things still aren't looking up. :frown:

Ivan, in real life, I'm actually distantly related to the Bride of Frankenstein. :bugeye:

Cheer up, Sis! Here! Have a cookie! <stuffs cookie into computer>. Now, follow it with this Green Apple vodka. <stuffs bottle> But send it back and I'll join you!

Don't worry. You've ALWAYS looked like the Bride of Frankenstein to ME! I love you anyway! Please don't change!

What is wrong with the camera? Just grainy? What make&model?

*grunt*... I'm in a worse mood :tongue2:

I spit out code for the past few days (about 2000 lines worth) only to find out my teammates stuff didn't match up with mine...

2000 lines worth 7% of my final... (the hours put in are worth more than seven measly percent :yuck: )

Time due? 11:59 PM ... time on my electronic submission (after hammering on it all day)? 11:59

Well, Evo, your day started bad, mine ended bad. We can work on cheering each other up. Me...I was just attempting to replace a drippy faucet valve in my shower, which I thought would take me a half hour at most. It took a bit longer than I planned because everything was pretty corroded and took a lot more persuading to unscrew than it was supposed to...until that last bit of the valve stem that decided to stay put and the wrench turned a square hole into a round one. Oh, and this is the shower that has no shut-off valve to it, so I had the whole house water off to do this project and was at a point where I couldn't turn it back on without flooding the house. Of course I got to that sticking point right about 9 PM...when all the stores that would carry plumbing supplies close. Fortunately, there's one 24 hour department type store that had 1/2" copper caps (and not much of anything else). So, in the interest of turning my water on tonight, I have now cut the old faucet diverter thingy out (I'm not exactly sure what that's called because I hadn't planned on getting a new one) and capped off the pipe. Tomorrow I get to replace the whole thing, pipes and all. I will definitely be installing a shut-off valve while I'm at it. This isn't what I planned for my evening.

Tsu, I'm going to need a lot more of that green apple vodka before I decide it tastes good with cookies :yuck: Kahlua and cream goes much better with cookies. [send Kahlua bottle to Evo and Tsu]

The camera is a Logitech cheapo, but the quickcam I got from them years ago was much better.

singleton, sorry to hear about your troubles, but mine are far worse.

Tsunami, mmmmmm, cookies and vodka, who could ask for more. :approve: I will send you all the details.

Moonbear, a much more "productive" night than mine. Sounds like you need the cookies and alcohol more than me. :approve: Hey, I make the world's best fruitcake...no seriously, people that HATE fruitcake love mine. Ok, get ready for some of Evo's WORLD FAMOUS FRUITCAKE coming your way this holiday season.

Oooh, fruitcake...yum! I used to think I hated fruitcake because the only kind I ever had were those celophane wrapped bricks they sell at Christmas time, then I had a homemade fruitcake a coworker made, and it was fantastic!

This poem usually helps a friend of mine when she's having a bad day.

Love Sonnet XVII
Pablo Neruda

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
So I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Gosh, Evo. If Chrono's poem doesn't make you feel better, I fear NOTHING will! Here. Have another cookie. <stuffs cookie> And another martini. Need help to bed?

edit: Didn't you say that about the wicked witch of the west once? or was that tribdog?

LOL. The only reason she wants tribdog here is because tribdog's life is worse and she can feel better about herself.

  • #19
I'm feeling better today, although with a vodka cookie hangover. :bugeye:

I'm going to have to buy a new web cam. :grumpy:

Chrono, thanks for the poem!

Smurf, are you saying I look like the wicked witch? Pokes smurf with her pitchfork.

Sorry I'm late. Evo you are flat out gorgeous. I'm sorry you've had a bad day, but by seeing you my day has improved incredibly. the only light you could ever look bad in would be no light at all. I'm not positive about that however, so perhaps we could spend a little while together in the dark?

It's about time. :grumpy:

Now that my ego has been stroked by trib, I'm ok, for now. :approve:

Although I'm still ticked off about the camera.

Give the camera a break. Even I get a bit overwhelmed when I look at you, and I'm about 46 times bigger than the camera. Face it Evo, you are much more dazzling than that little guy was designed to handle. Luckily for me your face has been burned into my mind since first glance, so I don't need the new camera to work. I see you always.

Wow, I should try that line on girls my age and see if it works as well

"I hope this isn't too forward of me, but you definitely don't look like the bride of Frankenstein."

The webcams were lined up in rows.
Evo pointed and took what she chose.
Now that camera's not great
but she looks first rate.
That's why I'm not wearing my clothes.

Hi Evo. Please cheer up. I just accidentally dumped my lunch all over the carpet in my office so I had to go out and buy a sandwich. I guess that's vaguely humorous. well, I tried.

Oh no! I hope your cleaning people are better than ours. We see them in the building at night, but in the morning nothing has been cleaned. :grumpy:

It isn't quite like what it seems.
There's no need to call in your teams.
I don't have a pic.
but here's a good trick,
I look JUST like the man of your dreams.

I don't know. His 'visuals' just aren't working for me the way yours did, Chrono. In fact, tribdogs visuals are kind of... well, i don't know... you know... like... FREAKIN' ME OUT?:rofl:

Yeah, I get that a lot. Try to stop thinking about me naked, remember you have someone at home to love. It's okay to fantasize, but don't overdo it.

Mine had visuals? I'm into poems, but it seems I'm not very good at interpreting them.
