AI Thread Summary
The phrase "Insurance is a subject matter of solicitation" appears in insurance advertisements primarily due to regulatory requirements in the Indian insurance market. This disclaimer aims to clarify that the content is an advertisement, potentially reflecting a concern that consumers might not recognize it as such. The discussion highlights a perception that this requirement is demeaning, suggesting that it underestimates consumer intelligence. Comparisons are drawn to small print in loan advertisements, which serve to inform consumers about risks associated with financial products. Overall, the conversation critiques the necessity of such disclaimers and their implications for consumer awareness.

All insurance ads have this line "Insurance is a subject mater of solicitation".

Insurance claims may be adjudicated by solicitors, at a wild guess. Legal jargon for if the crap hits the fan we reserve the right to take up legal advice in processing a claim perhaps?

The Feds makes them put it on there ads, to make it clear that it is a ad. Because we are really dumb.

That's demeaning  if your too stupid to realize it's an advert then your too stupid to buy insurance anyway.

I Googled on the phrase, and it is peculiar to the Indian insurance market. Apparently, Indian regulators require this disclaimer.

Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
