Graduate Delta++ Rest Mass: Explaining Its Greater Rest Mass Than Proton
My question concerns the delta++ baryon. I understand that the rest mass of quarks makes up a very small percentage of the total mass of a baryon, but I don't understand exactly what it is about delta ++ (uuu) which makes it have greater rest mass than a proton (uud). If anyone can explain...- 4nn4

Graduate What exactly makes Mesons unstable?
Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed and clearly explained response. I admit I had to read it through several times, but it is making more sense each time I read it. Thanks again- 4nn4

Graduate What exactly makes Mesons unstable?
As the title says- what is it that makes all mesons unstable? I know some quarks are less stable than others obviously, but why is there no stable meson? What is it about any combination of quark and anti-quark that makes a particle decay nearly immediately? In a related topic- what exactly...- 4nn4
