Graduate Simpler Anthropic Principle: the Computeric Principle
Unfortunately I am not "others", but here it is my answer: your observation just implies that in L(3,1,...) such a thing is possible, i.e. you can build an UTM in it. That's it. Nothing more. Perhaps in L(51,2,...) it is not possible, perhaps it is. Perhaps the following remark is due: when I...- AlpT

Graduate Simpler Anthropic Principle: the Computeric Principle
You read me wrong. What I am saying with the Computerthropic principle is a precise mathematical statement (right now just a conjecture): Consider the laws of physics L, parametrized by space and time dimensions and other parameters such as mass, charge, spin of elementary particles, etc...- AlpT

Graduate Simpler Anthropic Principle: the Computeric Principle
I just read the Spacetime article on wikipedia which argues that the spatial and temporal dimensions (N=3, T=1) are special, since without them no life as we know it could ever exist. It is not clear to me however if a computer (or better an (in)finite Universal Turing Machine) could ever exist...- AlpT

Graduate Is a computational oracle physically possible?
Is it possible to predict the future for free? "Is it possible to predict the future for free?" this is a simplified way to ask the same thing of post #1. I bet no. Any hint to prove that this is the case?- AlpT

Graduate Is a computational oracle physically possible?
dhillonv10: my question was exactly: "can we have physical oracles, i.e. can we construct one? maybe not because nothing in the universe can have infinite power and infinite computation requires infinite power. Can we prove this for example by appealing to a violation of the first/second law?"...- AlpT

Graduate Is a computational oracle physically possible?
def: oracle: see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_machine Question: wouldn't an oracle violate the law of conservation of energy or second law of thermodynamics, by creating a device similar to the Maxwell Demon? In other words, would being able to get information without actually...- AlpT
