High School Can a^0 Equal 1? A Simple Proof
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinc_function: "In mathematics, physics and engineering, the cardinal sine function or sinc function, denoted by sinc(x), has two slightly different definitions.[1] In mathematics, the historical unnormalized sinc function is defined by ...... High School Can a^0 Equal 1? A Simple Proof
\lim_{x\rightarrow 0} {2^x}=1 from the right 2^1=2 2^0.5=1.4 2^0.1=1.07 2^0.01=1.007 from the left 2^-1=0.5 2^-0.01=0.993 BUT the function is not defined in x=0 ********************************************************* ##{f(x)}={\frac{(x+2)(x-2){x+2}## ##g(x)=(x-2)}##...- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
I found this: http://arxiv.org/pdf/0911.3616v1.pdf "In the October 2009 issue of the American Journal of Physics Greaves, Ro- driguez and Ruiz-Camacho[1] report a measurement of the one-way speed of light. ... In the experiment they describe, a light beam is sent from a laser to a photosensor...- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
Yes, it is a roundtrip measurement. Anyway ¿could you measure the speed of light from any source with this set-up?- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
"Then you just have a more complicated way of doing a two-way measurement" OK, it is a two-way measurement. But part of the way happens inside my cables, that are at rest in my laboratory. And if I connect my two cables to the same detector I will see that both signals in the scope arrive at the...- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
"No. That method would add other factors, like the propagation times of the signals in the cables" You can use two cables of the same length. "The two way measurement requires just one clock". The scope has just one clock inside. And I don't want to use mirrors.- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
Im not talking about "my clock" and "when I turn the light on". The source of light might be moving respect to my laboratory. Could you use two photodiodes located 1m apart connected to a scope, each one to one channel of the scope and measure the time between the signals received ? (Yes/No...- alva

Graduate How does Maxwell equation suggest that the speed of light is the same
A very silly question. How do you measure the speed of light ? You measure distance using rulers. You measure time using clocks. What devices would you use for measuring the speed of ligth? At rest or for a moving observer. No "doopler relativistic formulae", please. A device that could...- alva

Graduate What Makes a Sliding Book Stop Both Rotating and Translating Simultaneously?
Just an idea. From wiki: If you want to take out a nail from a piece of wood you can use brute force and, using a lever, exert a big force on it. Or you can turn the nail, cw and ccw, using a pliers, and pull out the nail smoothly. I realize now that the OP question does not talk... -

Undergrad What concept does work formalize?
IMHO. This is the way ALL scientists (and PF golds and Mentors here) learned about energy and work: Forces, movement, kinetic energy, potential energy (mechanical energies) Thermal energy. Chemical energy. Electric energy. Nuclear energy. ... Once they have studied all these subjects... -

Undergrad Experiment: EMF from Moving Wires in a Magnetic Field
The attached drawing represents 4 wires. The top and down are still. The right and left move with the same velocity v as shown by the arrows. There is a magnetic field perpendicular to the page. Will there be a current flowing through the circuit formed by the 4 wires?- alva

Undergrad Where did the radian come from (Torque)?
I think the question posed by the OP is "Where did the dB/radians come from?" Not "What is a dB/radian?"
