vk6kro, i've tried changing the limit on the power supply, and tried a different power supply, it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'll try putting the resistor straight across the supply. schip666!, My first thought was to try the protection diode, but it stopped the transfer...- anthonyjames9

Ay the input to the gate the signal has a small oscillation at the rising edge but settles fairly quickly. I've measured the period and it appears to be correct. The MOSFET is running off 15V and the 555 is going through a 5V regulator, I tried two separate supplies but it made no difference...- anthonyjames9

I've currently using a signal generator into the gate of a MOSFET to switch an inductive load. I've built a 555 circuit to replicate the signal generator output (TTL 5V 192kHz). When I connect this to the gate, the power supply driving the MOSFET limits the current and shuts itself down...- anthonyjames9

Thanks for your replies guys. I'm trying to create a small wireless induction circuit, I've managed to use a signal generator to create the 500kHz signal, but obviously it's not capable of driving much current. Maybe AC was the wrong word, but more "Choppy DC". I was hoping the 555 would act...- anthonyjames9

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm in Europe so I'll check the rules here. If I tune the circuit to around 500kHz I might not have a problem anyway. Is there any way of boosting the output power from the signal generator for the purpose of testing at least? I've been told power Mosfets...- anthonyjames9

4MHz oscillator circuit for wireless charging coil driver
I've attached an image of the circuit (photo.jpg). When I place an Ammeter in series, even when putting a resistor (tried values from 10Ω to 1kΩ) I don't get any reading on the meter. I suppose what I think I'd like to come up with eventually is seen in the second attachment (photo2.jpg)...- anthonyjames9

4MHz oscillator circuit for wireless charging coil driver
One coil is 5cm by 2.5cm with 32 turns of 0.711m diameter copper. The other is 2cm by 1cm with 16 turns. The voltage output is 20Vp-p with it failing to drive even 10mA out of it (although it doesn't specify anywhere it's actual limitation - not that I can see anyway).
