Admissions Admissions Q: MS in Statistics @ OSU
I originally posted this at testmagic.com's forum, but NO ONE seems to respond to anything at that forum. So here it goes: I'm interested in applying for an MS in Statistics from Oregon State University (there are other schools, too but OSU is my top choice). I'm a math and biology double...- BoundByAxioms

Does anyone know the path towards becoming an actuary?
I've been mulling the idea of a career as an actuary for about six months or so. Since my school doesn't offer many classes (we offer General Mathematical Statistics, Probability, ANOVA, Mathematics of Risk, and Econometrics, and Mathematical Methods in Economics) that would help prepare me for...- BoundByAxioms

How does one prepare for these exams? Are they like the MCAT where you can study independently/take a training course, or do they require some serious instruction?- BoundByAxioms

So it sounds like an internship is very important for this field. Are we talking like a summer internship? Or like, a semester internship?- BoundByAxioms

Does anyone know the path towards becoming an actuary?
That's funny , are you suggesting that being an actuary is boring? I would think that a Ph.D might be a little overkill in order to become an actuary, but I've got no great reason to think that. My school doesn't offer an actuarial science degree, unfortunately. I'm a mathematics major. I...- BoundByAxioms

Nuclear chemistry reaction question
Oh my goodness, thank you! I can't believe I did that. I think I glanced at my periodic table too quickly, and read that "c" as an "e". Thank you, that was indeed the correct answer.- BoundByAxioms

Programs Biochemistry major I need advise on picking a minor
I think you made the right choice. I'd recommend you take differential equations and linear algebra at the very least. I'm a math and biology major, who is also taking a lot of chemistry, and math has made all of my science classes much easier. Also, as more of a side note, taking a lot of math...- BoundByAxioms

Nuclear chemistry reaction question
Homework Statement Complete and balance the following nuclear equations by supplying the missing particle.^{98}_{42}Mo+^{2}_{1}H\rightarrow^{1}_{0}n+?Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution I would think that the answer would just be ^{99}_{43}Te. It seems correct, since everything adds...- BoundByAxioms
