Discover Gliese 581g - Just 20 Light-Years Away!
Am I the only one that HAS heard of this planet before it was talked about on the 29th? I forget what show but it was naked science or how the universe works or something like that. One of them (I forget which) has talked about a rocky planet bigger than the Earth and closer to its star that's...- Brett13

Closest Mars Approach to Earth in 5,000 Years: Real or Hoax?
So I received an email today about how Mars is supposed to be the closest to Earth in like 5000 years and that it should look like a smaller moon directly next to the normal moon. I looked around the internet and some sites say that its a hoax. Does anyone know anything about this at all?- Brett13

So I was just watching a naked science episode on discovery about
So I was just watching a naked science episode on discovery about pluto and how some scientists believe that it came from the hyperbelt. Now I would just like to clarify, does the hyperbelt surround our solarsystem? Like a ring around saturn? Or is the entire solar system surrounded by it? Like...- Brett13

Graduate Why artificial gravity is not possible?
Mentioning 2001 reminded me of something, along with the avatar, could we put the astronauts in a hypersleep or something? They wouldn't be using their muscles so could it somehow negate the effect of the no gravity?- Brett13

High School How do rockets in space works?
Oooooh so the ejection of the exhaust(the mass) is what propels it. OK thank you very much -

High School How do rockets in space works?
Even then though wouldn't the exhaust have to push on something to propel the rocket? its 2:48 in the morning maybe I am just tired haha... -

High School How do rockets in space works?
Nasa uses chemical rockets in space right? On Earth I could understand how they work, the one reaction produces an equal and opposite reaction. So on Earth the rocket would be pushing on air to propel itself. But there's no air in space... Edit:::: I added an s to "works" in the title, my bad -

High School Light Speed and Voyager Space Probes: A Reflection
I just want to make sure I understand this clearly. Light travels at 186 000 miles/second right? So if something was 10 light years away would that mean that it would take 10 years going at the speed of light to get there? Wouldnt it be possible to make a probe go even half that speed? I don't...- Brett13

Graduate Unraveling the Mystery of Total Energy in the Universe
So I am only in high school and all of you are a lot smarter then I, But when we do total energy changes in chemistry..we sometimes end up with a negative energy value... maybe its a different type deal, but the law of conservation of energy states that energy is neither created nor destroyed...- Brett13

High School What classes do I need to become an astronomer?
Hey, I am in grade 11 and I would like to become an astronomer. I just need a little guidance. What classes do I need in high school? I have chemistry 11 and 12 and have good marks in both of them. I am taking both gr. 11 and 12 physics in my grade 12 year. I live in New Brunswick, Canada and I...- Brett13

High School What is Plasma and Why is it 99% of the Universe?
Im in High School in New Brunswick, Canada and I am doing an APA research paper on plasma( or at least trying to). And I've been looking around the internet and found some interesting stuff. But basically the only thing I've gotten out of my research( which has been mainly online books/papers)...- Brett13
