OCR A2 Physics cosmic microwave background radiation question
I was going over some past papers ( OCR Physics A2 ) and I came across this question about cosmic microwave background radiation-the topic I seem to be struggling with the most :/ and I wasn't sure how to structure my answer. It's worth 5 marks. The question is : Describe the important...- cakeislife

Mechanics- Dynamics of particle moving in a straight line questions
Homework Statement 1. A small pebble of mass 50g is dropped into a pond and falls vertically through it with an acceleration of 2.8ms^-2. Assuming that the water produces a constant resistance, find its magnitude. 2. A lift of mass 500kg is lowered or raised by means of a metal cable...- cakeislife

Graduate Describe & explain the significance of the 3K CMB
@phinds I'm confused, where did it start from then? @marcus I'm not writing an essay, I have exams, so I'm revising the points from my specification, and I just happened to stumble on this point. Secondly , I don't live on cake, but cake always makes everything better, it's the light at the...- cakeislife

Graduate Describe & explain the significance of the 3K CMB
@Simon Bridge Ok, I understand that the whole universe is not at that temperature, its the average temperature right?! :S I still don't understand the concept of the temperature though? I understand hot objects give out radiation of short wavelengths, which have very high energies and cool...- cakeislife

Graduate Describe & explain the significance of the 3K CMB
Ok so I'm a bit confused as to how to attempt to answer this question? Describing its significance vs explaining its significance? Here is my attempt, please be ruthless when correcting me as I feel like there are some gaps in my knowledge and misconceptions I have: Where I put '/' I...- cakeislife

The Hot Big Bang Model and supporting evidence
Homework Statement I'm having a slightly hard time with a topic we are studying at school 'the evolution of the universe'. My first question relates to the Big Bang Model itself; does the Big Bang Model itself describe the evolution of the universe after the Planck time up to this point...- cakeislife

Damped simple harmonic motion experiment and questions?
Just wondering one more thing, for my graph, would it be too awkward to put '5, 10' ,15 ,20 ,25,30' every 3 squares for the 'number of oscillations' on the x axis? If I do it every two squares, it looks slightly weird and takes up 3/4 of the page :S- cakeislife

Damped simple harmonic motion experiment and questions?
Yes, sorry my bad. Ahh ok, I understand. So if it is 2.4cm then my ln(A)= 0.056 , for example? Also I just have one more question In(A) has no units, right? :S- cakeislife

Damped simple harmonic motion experiment and questions?
I am plotting InA against n :) Ok so for resolving the equation, did you simply rearrange it into the form y=mx+c and then from my calculated values of the gradient and y intercept I can just state In(A0)= my y intercept and then determine A0 from that? And λ= +gradient ( since my gradient...- cakeislife
