Which Should I Take First: Analytical Chemistry or Physical Chemistry?
I will be picking my Spring courses on Monday and I just want to know which class you would recommend me taking first: analytical chem or physical chemistry? does it matter which I take first? I will have to take physical chemistry 2, so should I take physical chemistry first because of that... -

What is the velocity of raindrops in two reference frames?
A car travels due east with a speed of 50.0 km/h. Raindrops are falling at a constant speed vertically with respect to the Earth. The traces of the rain on the side windows of the car make an angle of 45.0° with the vertical. Find the velocity of the rain with respect to the following reference...- chanv1

Train Acceleration on Sharp Turn
Okay, just to double check.. so it's 1.622 + -.712 = .91 and inverse tan (1.622/-.712) = -66.3 degrees? or do I add 180 degrees to that? or do I have to do 1.62^2 + -.712^2 = c^2?- chanv1

Train Acceleration on Sharp Turn
So then do you add 1.622 and -.712 together to get the magnitude? How do I calculate the direction? inverse tan of the numbers?- chanv1

Football Problem: Calculating Ball's Clearance over Goal Post
Homework Statement A placekicker must kick a football from a point 36.0 m (about 40 yards) from the goal, and half the crowd hopes the ball will clear the crossbar, which is 3.05 m high. When kicked, the ball leaves the ground with a speed of 24.0 m/s at an angle of 45.0° to the horizontal...- chanv1

Train Acceleration on Sharp Turn
so to find V, I used the eq. V = (2 pi r)/t and got V = 83.61 then plugged the V into V^2 / r and got centripetal acceleration of 42.37 m/s/s then from what you said, I added the two vectors to determine magnitude -.712^2 + 42.37^2 = 1795.72^2 so ultimately the magnitude would...- chanv1

Train Acceleration on Sharp Turn
when I plugged it into that equation, I got .. 16.36^2 = 22.42^2 +2a (165) a = -.712 is that correct?- chanv1

Train Acceleration on Sharp Turn
Homework Statement A train slows down as it rounds a sharp horizontal turn, slowing from 80.7 km/h to 58.9 km/h in the 12.4 s that it takes to round the bend. The radius of the curve is 165 m. Compute the acceleration at the moment the train speed reaches 58.9 km/h. Assume that it continues to...- chanv1

Solving for Horizontal Distance and Time in a Vertical Drop Problem
Homework Statement A daring ranch hand sitting on a tree limb wishes to drop vertically onto a horse galloping under the tree. The constant speed of the horse is 12.0 m/s, and the distance from the limb to the level of the saddle is 2.00 m. What must be the horizontal distance between the...- chanv1

Calculating Average Velocity from Position vs Time Graph
Yeah, I know. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong ... please walk me through this? Isn't the distance for 4s, 5? so I would 5 * 4 = 20 and so on? What should I be seeing instead?- chanv1
